Hi everyone, Just a quick message to confirm that three of us from HEAS (two trustees and one young person who had been home educated) met with Graham Badman ...

A note to remind folks that a bit more tolerance and sense of proportion may be helpful or we could find less sympathy being expressed for our cause

Make a stand for the basic freedom to home educate
Congratulations on drawing attention to the serious issues raised in your double page spread on home Education
Message 7483
I was invited to meet with Graham Badman and Liz Green -back at the start of April 2009
to quote from the original contact- they said
"We'd be very interested in hearing your views on home education particularly with reference to the Muslim community"
Report follows on this meeting - well worth reading

Education Otherwise recently commissioned a series of videos about home education, and also about the Badman Report.
The first video in the series, entitled "School is Not Compulsory" has just gone live on the Education Otherwise YouTube Channel

> I did have my suspicions some time ago that this whole move against the freedom to home educate could have it's origins in discussions about terrorism and paranoid politicians having visions of home education being a breeding ground for extremist teaching (I thought I was being paranoid myself but after watching Adam Curtis's documentaries on the weekend and reading this I'm beginning to wonder whether the child protection concerns aren't the primary
reason their so paranoid about home education.
