Educate means - bring up (child), train mentally or morally, provide schooling for, instruct.
I think this "child-lead" phrase could lead people to think that the parents are not concerned for the outcome of the education. I would say that my approach is more "child-focused". I allow the children to learn as much as they want about anything they want to. I provide stimulating conversation, games and other resources to help them learn. If I am concerned about the lack of development in one area, I try harder to find some way of getting them interested in it. I bring them up to be respectful to others. I am always concerned that they gain the skills to eventually become independant and thrive in the world. I lead by example. My children, however, are convinced that the education is purely "child-lead".

We're not completely autonomus at the moment, my son is 6 and I really want him to be confident in numeracy and literacy so that we can move towards more child-led education with confidence - without having every Tom Dick and LA questioning his abilities and instead leaving him to learn and enjoy in his own way - which is why we do have parent led work occasionally ( but I'm not allowed to say "work" or he refuses to have anything to do with it! ) to reinforce what he's already learnt. Having said that, as each day passes we seem to be moving further and further away from structured parent-led education and letting his interests lead us.
